KOBEY.

Growing up in Eastern Europe, I have ever since my childhood had this inner dislike for denim, sportswear, and 90s fashion. There were simply too many people running around wearing these not necessarily bad things in a really bad way. But I can feel I have been moving on from any presumptions against any of these, although my first pair of sneakers in ages is yet to be purchased. (I am way too picky.) This KOBEY sweatshirt kind of got me into the 90s sportswear mood. It's an inside joke slash play of words on the classic OBEY print and the city I'm currently living in - KOBE (pronounced as KOBEY in a bad American accent). Since I arrived last October, I have seen local kids wearing KOBEY stuff, and I managed to sniff out (Well, I simply asked a friend.) the source and get my hands on my own piece. I went for the one that really pretty much rips off the OBEY classic, because I think that it goes beyond a 'funny T-shirt' logo, as it is quite clever, and it also seems to be quite a noteworthy part of the hip hop club scene in here.
I styled the sweat in a rather boyish way - leather shorts, socks, and sandals, but I hid a more ladylike summery version underneath. It's still very laid back, though, so I wanted the photos to be set in a really ordinary urban environment. I randomly discovered this quiet residential neighbourhood car park when I was looking for places to shoot at. I like how it's anything but fancy, and I also really like the (purely accidental) sharp line of light that runs through the picture, and the car park's line marks matching my shoes and socks.
